✅ Use a strong password or passphrase for your investment account, keep it secure and change it regularly.
1
2
✅ Use different passwords for different accounts. Using a single password is the equivalent of using a single key for your car, house and mailbox – if it’s lost or stolen, you may give away access to everything.
1
3
✅ Use two-step verification / multi-factor authentication if available. With 2-step verification, your investment firm sends a unique code to either your e-mail / mobile device when you attempt to log into your account from an unrecognized computer.
1
3
✅Turn on account alerts. These alerts will send you an e-mail &/or text message when certain activities occur in your account, such as logins, failed login attempts, password changes, transactions & updates to personal info.
12
5
✅ Update your devices and check your privacy settings. Get the latest software fixes and security patches, don’t automatically save usernames and passwords, and always choose the least amount of data-sharing possible. Visit Investor.gov for more tips!
