In the week since the historic UN resolution recognizing the right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment I have received more than 1,000 lovely congratulatory messages. THANK YOU!!! But this victory was due to the hard work and unyielding support of many, many people!

One of the most important cases in recent memory regarding the right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment, plus the rights to life, health and science. German and EU air quality rules lag behind the science and are far weaker than WHO guidelines. Clean air is a right!
🚨 BREAKING: Seven claimants in Germany are suing their government for failing to protect their health from air pollution. In the group are parents taking action for their children, and asthma sufferers. (1/5) bbc.co.uk/news/science-envir…

This is really amazing. Young people are extraordinarily passionate about the beauty and diversity of life on Earth. They are frightened by the planetary crisis, and are responding with advocacy and action. Adults, from parents to politicians to CEOs, need to listen and act. Now!
The UN invited children and young people from around the 🌍 to share their views on their environmental rights. 7,416 children from 103 countries answered their call. We put together the key findings 👉 childrightsenvironment.org/r… #ChildRightsEnvironment #GC26

I'm seeking inputs for new report about women, girls and the right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment. A vital topic! I have much to learn, and used inappropriate language to refer to women with disabilities. So, we revised call for inputs. ohchr.org/en/calls-for-input…

Years ago David Suzuki and I were invited for tea with Prince Charles. We were pleasantly surprised by his knowledge and passion regarding sustainability initiatives. I hope that as king he will advocate for urgent, ambitious, rights-based climate and environment action!

Compelling new report on why the Council of Europe needs a new protocol on the right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment! The time is now!
Almost a year to the day since @SueWillman and I set up the Environmental Rights Recognition Project, we’ve published our third paper – it makes the case for why Council of Europe (@coe) Member States should support the proposal for a new ECHR right to a healthy environment. /1

Save millions of lives. Slow Climate change. Speed up sustainable development. Obligations, not options! #WorldCleanAirDay
Dirty air affects 99% of people on the planet. And the poor suffer the most. This #WorldCleanAirDay I call on all countries to work together to combat air pollution.

Clean air is an essential element of the right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment. Yet every minute of every day, people are dying because of air pollution. Improving air quality is a human rights obligation for all States! See my report A/HRC/40/55.
Every breath we take keeps us alive. But every breath we take is also killing us. On #WorldCleanAirDay I call on governments to unite behind #TheAirWeShare. We all share one atmosphere. We must #ActNow to protect it.

The same story over and over - protecting the environment requires protecting, first and foremost, those who are on the front lines. Brazil and many other states are failing to do that. Those responsible for this horrific crime must be brought to justice. apnews.com/article/forests-b…

Very disappointing! Lo siento mucho mis amigas y amigos de Chile. Seguimos trabajando por un futuro justo y sostenible!
🇨🇱 Sad news: the Chilean people decided to reject the new proposed constitution, which would have made Chile one of the world’s most left-leaning societies. Chileans decided that went too far. nytimes.com/2022/09/04/world…
