Ex-Hong Kong leader CY Leung says he and his 3 children never held any foreign citizenship. His wife Regina Leung had a British passport, he says, but she didn’t use it after the Handover, it was not extended after expiry, and she no longer holds it (or whatever 撇清 means).

We have no way to verify so he can claim whatever he likes. Anyway he better ask the govt officials first.

Passport expiration doesn’t mean citizenship expires. Children not holding passport also doesn’t mean they don’t hold UK citizenship. One will need to apply to give up citizenship and pay exit tax if applicant hold assets in UK.
